Distribution agency is quite new to
me. By using an agent to distribute and sell the program that I will be
creating is quite a new strategy. There are several distribution agencies in
the United States and around the world assisting content creators. For example,
Shorts International LTD is a distribution agency and whole sales
representative agency in the U.S. This agency has an expertise and connection
with retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and other local retail stores
In the
past, people are representing themselves to pitch their work to the television
network and retail stores. This will require much time to complete. Travel
expenses, time consuming, and contact and negotiation process, they are all
taking a lot of time and effort to sell at least one project.
By using
these agencies to represent our work to different buyers is the most convenient
way of pitching the work. Artists do not have to travel to different states,
set up different interview, and carry the project around.
Pitch the
work to one location is the best way to sell the project, but also there is a
down side of it. Artist will not received full credit or full benefit from the
work. Project creator might own a copyright, but need to share profit in
different method of payment and royalty fee must be paid to the agency.
From my
opinion, this is the best way to start in entertainment business as a new
artist. Once we become well-known artist, we can pursue directly to the network
and direct contact with the retail store. We can skip middleman or distribution
agency and earn full profit.
As of my
new business plan, using an agency is the best solution to enter the business
and I believe Shorts
International LTD Is the best place to start.
